Do you know what really grinds my gears? When people make those comments about the gym being full at the top of a new year. If people want to use the new year as a clean slate, it is not your place to discourage it. You had to start somewhere right? That’s why people are too intimidated to go in the first place. You lose a few pounds and give up certain food groups and all of a sudden you’re one of those people. Don’t be that person. I have no problem being the humble police.
Also, don’t let anyone tell you that making New Year resolutions are old and played out. Goal setting should happen often. I set goals all the time. You should always be working toward something. That being said, if you want to start on January 01, 2017 then do it. It may not necessarily be health related but just do it. If you want to go back to school, save more money, find another job, connect with other people, or reunite with loved ones then go for it. Whatever is in your heart to do. Life is too short to worry about anything other making sure that you’re always happy. I encourage everyone to step outside of the box prove the world wrong.

This year was one of firsts for me. Some good and some bad but all gave me clarity and I am so very thankful for that. I am going into the new year expounding upon the lessons that God has taught me thus far. For one, my blog has been such a blessing to me since I started it. It took me a while to come up with a name and after creating the website I debated on releasing it. The exposure is new for me but I am so touched by the response. This gave me the courage to go for bigger dreams this coming year. I can finally focus on me. After giving so much of my self to others who took me for granted, I am still standing and I am unbroken. I have a lot to be thankful for and so much more strength because of what I have been through. I let go of toxic relationships, toxic keepsakes, and bad habits and I am getting back to my center. This journey is scary but it feels great!
Do not be discouraged. You probably hear that every other day but I need it too even as I type the words for you. Reach for the stars and then beyond. God has more in store for you if you give him something to work with. Own your growth process. Change lives and slay in the process! Happy New Year!
See you on the other side blackbirds,
Maddy
