Don’t Live For The Weekend

I am kidding with this title right? I know, I know…I am guilty of this myself but we have to stop doing this!
This morning, I wrote the serenity prayer about 10 times. I was just not in the mood for the inevitable foolishness that comes with any workday, also known as a day when the world seems to crash and burn and the overreaction is real. (excuse the run-on). But nevertheless, I press forward. I really don’t have a choice right? Money to be made, bills need to be paid, and I have places to go and other things to do. It’s easy to fall into that routine and “hump it” from one day to the next. And it may seem like too much to be optimistic. Believe me, I know.
It’s hard to keep praying for the end of the work day, every single day. Life should be more than just living for the weekend. We have to force ourselves to find the silver lining until it becomes an automatic switch. I read devotional every morning and another in the afternoon. Dealing with the general public requires the need to bring yourself back to your center and a place of calm. Thankfully, I have my boyfriend and friends to encourage me every day. Although, I would rather be doing something more impactful and making more coin, I am grateful for what the Lord has provided for me. I have more than enough to be thankful for.

And in case you don’t have anyone in your life that will tell you that you can make it, let me be the one to tell you than you can. Whether it’s praying, deep breathing, a nap, sitting outside for a moment, make sure you call on strength to make it toward that weekend, that next day, or even that next hour. You will get where you need to be when you need to get there, but don’t be lazy, prepare yourself spiritually and physically. You want to improve your credit, seek out resources. Is debt preventing you from moving to the next step? Make a solid plan to get it paid. Are your relationships faltering? Actively fast and pray. You don’t have to be idle, there is always some way you can be working on yourself.
Get Up by Amel Larrieux is exactly what I feel and just the encouragement I need sometimes. Try it on for size!
